Topic and Maslobojev Win ONE Super Series Bouts at Grit and Glory

Today in Jakarta ONE Championship held their event Grit and Glory, featuring their second outing into the realm of kickboxing and muay thai with their Super Series, featuring just two bouts — one apiece — at the event, although they were interesting fights and a good appetizer for their next event, which will feature a few more bouts.

The first fight saw Ongjen Topic defeat Stergos Mikkios via decision in three rounds. The two men met under full muay thai rules inside of the ONE cage where Topic was able to out-strike Mikkios, controlling where in the cage the fight took place, the pace and virtually everything else. Topic was a good signing for ONE considering he was one of the most popular fighters that Lion Fight had in America. He’s also an exciting, consistent fighter and this is just a preview of what’s to come from him in the ONE ring.

On the main card was a rematch at 95kg between Sergej Maslobojev and Antonio Plazibat. Plazibat is a former K-1 Japan Heavyweight Champion and won the LiverKick Knockout of the Year last year with an incredible flying knee. To say that Plazibat’s stock has been on the rise since these two met in 2016 would be an understatement, but once again Maslobojev was able to show that he’s perhaps the more complete fighter in this contest. These two threw down in the ring and put it all on the line. This probably won’t be the last time that we see these two fight, call it a hunch.
