ONE Championship: Unstoppable Dreams Results – Sam-A Claims Muay Thai Flyweight Title

Sam-A celebrates his championship victory at ONE. (ONE Championship)

ONE Championship ran their third event featuring kickboxing and muay thai today in ONE: Unstoppable Dreams, featuring the crowning of a muay thai flyweight champion in a bout between Sam-A and Sergio Wielzen. Sam-A was able to bring the wealth of experience into the cage with him, wearing MMA gloves and fighting in a cage might be a different experience for a tried-and-true muay thai competitor, but both men brought it in this fight, with Sam-A working away with elbows in the fourth round to score the finish.

Yodsanklai stepped into the ONE ring earlier in the night, fighting Chris Ngimbi under kickboxing rules in a fight where Ngibmi looked good. His styles has been refined over the years to where he knows when to throw a knee, when to feint it and when to not even bother. It’s still one of his most prominent tools, though. Yodsanklai looked confident with his hands, though, making it an interesting bout that ultimately went to Yod.

The third bout was between Signtongnoi and Joseph Lasiri that saw the Thai just on fire, piecing up Lasiri while the crowd went nuts for everything that he did. He was able to secure the victory in R2 after ref Atsushi Onari stopped the action following some knees to the ribs of Lasiri the left him reeling.

The next ONE card is scheduled for June 16th and will hopefully feature more kickboxing action.
