Cavalari vs. Zhuravlev at GLORY 43 For Interim Light Heavyweight Championship

Not many of GLORY’s titles have been pushed into the realm of having interim championships, but light heavyweight has had an interim champion before. Now it will once again have an interim champion that will be decided at GLORY 43 New York. GLORY announced today that after his last fight at GLORY 38 the GLORY Light Heavyweight Champion Artem Vakhitov suffered a hand injury and wouldn’t be able to defend his title within the time frame they had expected.

So a decision was made that the GLORY 43 SuperFight Series headline fight of Saulo Cavalari vs. Pavel Zhuravlev would be for the GLORY Interim Light Heavyweight Championship. The winner of this bout will go on to fight Artem Vakhitov once he’s healthy and once-again unify the two titles into one. This fight will be the second meeting between the two men, with Zhuravlev owning a victory over Cavalari in 2012 at the K-1 World Grand Prix Final 16 event.

Cavalari is a former GLORY Light Heavyweight Champion while Zhuravlev is perhaps one of the best in the world, with many seeing great things for him under the GLORY banner. Here’s a look at the updated GLORY 43 SuperFight Series card.
