On Saturday, October 14th GLORY makes their way to mainland China with GLORY 36 Guangzhou. The event, which features a solid roster of Chinese fighters, is headlined by a precarious fight that we’ve heard rumored for a few months now in Rico Verhoeven against former UFC and Strikeforce fighter Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. Silva, known for his win over Fedor Emelianenko and his war with Mark Hunt, leaves MMA after a string of knock out losses, but will make his way into the GLORY ring to fight the best heavyweight in the world. This is a non-title bout. That’s the headliner [read more]

VIDEO: Remember That Catalin Morosanu is a Big Star in Romania

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that someone like Romanian kickboxer Catalin Morosanu is essentially a living legend in his home of Romania. Yet, he is. While kickboxing has had its recent struggles in Asia, Europe and has failed to really catch on in North America, in the Southeastern European nation of Romania it has a huge following. One of the many reasons why is Romanian kickboxing legend Catalin Morosanu. He’s known for his crazy, balls-to-the-wall fighting style, his never-say-die attitude and while he might look like the kind of guy you’d see guarding a drug kingpin in a superhero movie, [read more]

You’ve probably already heard that 30-year-old, 11-year MMA veteran, Chris Camozzi is making the switch from UFC to GLORY kickboxing. But there is an underlying question that needs to be asked and answered: Will more UFC fighters follow suit and make the switch as well? “I’m not leaving MMA, but I am going to make a little bit of a switch to GLORY kickboxing. I’m pretty excited about that. I’ve always been a huge fan of kickboxing. I’ve been a big fan of GLORY. Anybody that follows me knows that I go to a ton of their shows. So, we [read more]

Steven Wright’s Top 15 fighters in women’s Kickfighting

There hasn’t been much movement at the top, but the new Best female fighters in Kickfighting list has a lot of the usual suspects and one huge move forward for one of the combatants. Also the list of 15 now includes more 48kg fighters, so Muay Thai writer Sylvie von Duuglas-Ittu should approve of the full list this year. As always my list is focused on International resumes. Honorable mention. In one of the craziest career turn arounds ever, Mellony Geugjes is having a great year and is Krush champion. Not enough to be on the list, but great turnaround. [read more]

LiverKick Podcast July 24th — GLORY 43 Post-Show and Rankings Update

GLORY 43 has been in the books for a while, so yeah, this might be a bit late, but Jay was in New York until mid-week, so here we are. This is the somewhat late, still relevant LiverKick podcast recapping GLORY 43 and talking about the kind of crazy stuff that we always talk about. At the tail end of the show we decided to do something a bit crazy, too. We used our time to update the LiverKick Rankings (which I haven’t actually updated on the site just yet) and we decided to go over those changes in the [read more]

Take a Look Back at GLORY 43 and Its Multiple Upsets

If there was one word to describe GLORY 43 New York it would have to be “upsets.” While there were just a few, those upsets were still a big deal and not anything that most analysts would have predicted. The Featherweight tournament went to Kevin Vannostrand, Elvis Gashi knocked out Josh Jauncey, Guto Inocente defeated Benjamin Adegbuyi and more. That’s just a crazy, crazy night that helps to upend GLORY as a whole. GLORY released a video that reflects on the show and damn was it a weird one.

GLORY Grabs Media Rights Company MP & Silva for American TV Distribution

Since its inception in 2012 GLORY has yet to really find a steady home for their programming in the United States. One of the focal points of the company has been to penetrate the US sports market, to which there have been steady strides forward, but also mixed results. Things looked like they were about to change when the promotion landed a deal with Spike TV, but GLORY served more as a pilot program for Bellator Kickboxing events, which began in 2016 after GLORY had safely departed the Spike TV ecosystem. GLORY landed a deal with ESPN that all came [read more]
