Today in Manilla ONE Championship: Reign of Kings went down in a night that saw Shinya Aoki return to his crazy roots, Renzo Gracie tap fellow legend Yuki Kondo and three Super Series bouts in muay thai. On July 27th ONE Championship heads to Manilla for Reign of Kings, featuring ONE SuperSeries bouts in kickboxing and muay thai. The big, feature bout is between Armen Petrosyan and Chris Ngimbi. Armen’s brother, Giorgio, has defeated Ngimbi in the past, making this an interesting, familial bout and another chance for Ngimbi to prove himself. Ngimbi is the former It’s Showtime 70kg champion and was, at a time, one of the best in the world at 70kg. This past weekend at a Giorgio Petrosyan-promoted event, Petrosyanmania, Giorgio Petrosyan scored his 100th professional career win over former It’s Showtime Lightweight Champion Chris Ngimbi. Ngimbi had initially announced his shocking retirement in 2012, only to rescind on that where he’s continued to compete on the fringes of the top of the 70kg heap. Needless to say, Giorgio Petrosyan was perhaps too strong of a challenge for him at this point, although he put forth a valiant effort. The match, which was a rematch from 2008 where Petrosyan defeated Ngimbi, saw Petrosyan once again have his hand raised.
