While we might have moved on from the days of K-1’s glory years and into a new generation, there is still some fight left in the men that made those events feel special. We’ll get further proof of that in October when Melvin Manhoef will step into the ring for a fourth time against Remy Bonjasky.
The bout is scheduled for October 29th in the WFL ring — Manhoef’s promotion — and will air on Spike TV Netherlands. Bonjasky holds an impressive three victories over Manhoef, but perhaps something may have changed in the eight years since the two men last met. Bonjasky has been angling for a big fight in the last year, looking to once again come out of retirement and prove that he has what it takes still.
Bonjasky holds a staggering three K-1 World Grand Prix Championships and will undoubtedly go down as one of the all-time greats in the sport of kickboxing, while Manhoef has been known to be one of the most exciting fighters in both kickboxing and MMA throughout his storied career. Both men are 41 years-old right now and will be when they meet in October.
