its showtime

Somewhat lost in the barrage of recent kickboxing news the past few days, Simon Rutz announced that Giorgio Petrosyan would return in November in Tenerife, Spain. If you connect the dots, it would seem like It's Showtime will be holding an event there in November since Mr. Rutz announced when Giorgio would fight next. I asked Simon Rutz if It's Showtime would be holding an event there in November and was responded to with an answer of maybe..or "Meaby!" to be exact. Note that as of now it's only clear that there is a possibility of the event being set up.

Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands. I'm just speculating here but I think it's likely that the event would be held in the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the capital of the islands. The kickboxing scene in the Canary Islands isn't talked about that much but it is quite good. Mainland Spain also has some good fighters, like Javier Hernandez and Abraham Roqueni. Three fighters from the Canaries fought on It's Showtime's last event in Madrid and gave good showings. Zeben Diaz defeated Yavuz Kayabasi, Moises Ruibal lost a close fight to Sahak Parparyan and Loren Javier Jorge lost to Tyrone Spong.

Kickboxing has some support in the Canaries and draws good crowds who come out to support their local fighters. Expect Ruibal, Diaz and Loren to be on the card again. I'd also expect some more Spanish fighters like Abraham Roqueni to be on the card, as well as Javier Hernandez, possibly defending his It's Showtime 61MAX World Title against Kan Itabashi, the number one contender for the title. Don't take my word for all this, I'm just speculating as to how the card would be set up if the event were to happen.

After the success of the show in Madrid, it makes a lot of sense to come back to Spain, especially in an area like the Canaries where kickboxing has support. It's Showtime continues to expand their territory and become more global, holding an event in Japan on July 18 and the Madrid show on June 18. Be on the lookout for clarification in the coming months, as November is quite far off.
