K-1

A bit of a streak of bad luck struck K-1, who has split the K-1 World MAX Final 8 into two upcoming events, this weekend as both Andy Souwer and Enriko Kehl were forced to pull out from the December 28th event in Foshan, China. Souwer, who was ready to go, suffered from a bout of appendicitis late last week which forced him into the hospital where they had to perform a routine but emergency surgical procedure to remove the troubled organ. Souwer is resting comfortably and healing up but will not be ready in time for either event, so he has had to pull out. Enriko Kehl fought Buakaw Banchamek last weekend and received a rather nasty cut on his forehead which will not be healed up in time for December 28th.

So the fight between Andy Souwer and Enriko Kehl will obviously not happen, but that doesn't mean that all hope is lost. Oh no. K-1 has been prepared in case of such an emergency and was quick to do some shuffling, as Shane Campbell will now be fighting on the December 28th event against the winner of the Reserve bout from September, Christopher Mena. That left Maximo Suarez without an opponent, which, yes, you figured it out, his new opponent is Enriko Kehl.

So that means that the awesome fight between Shane Campbell and Maximo Suarez won't happen, but who knows, there is always next round, right?
