Gokhan Saki is clearly next in line for a shot at Semmy Schilt, who currently holds Glory's Heavyweight Championship, after his impressive win over Daniel Ghita. Originally we had heard that this bout was slated for June in New York City, then the announcement for GLORY 9 has came and went already with Tyrone Spong being the marquee fighter, no mention of Saki vs. Schilt anywhere. The question is; what happened to this fight?
LiverKick has heard from a reliable source that Gokhan Saki was having issues getting a visa for the United States and that the idea of Saki vs. Schilt in the United States has been scrapped altogether for the time being. Instead, the fight will take place at a GLORY event in October in Istanbul, Saki's hometown. One has to wonder how many fights that Semmy Schilt has left in his career at this point and if Saki might be one of his last fights, but nothing is clear yet.
We'll update you when we have more information on this fight and event.
