Kem Sitsongpeenong Wins Toyota Marathon

The Toyota Marathon went down yesterday in Chang Mai, Thailand, with an eight man tournament during the day with four Thai fighters and four Japanese fighters. The four Thais were Kem Sitsongpeenong, Prakaysiang Gaiyanghadaogym, Sirimongkol Sitanuparp and Thepsutin Pumphanmuang. The four Japanese fighters were Kasuya Takeda, Namoto Mashafumi, Chimichi Takeru and "Tsunami Fist," whose real name wasn't provided.

The quarter finals saw two Thai vs. Japanese match-ups and you guessed it, they were both one sided stoppages with Prakaysiang Gaiyanghadaogym stopping Namoto Mashafumi and Sirimongkol Sitanuparp demolishing Tsunami Fist. The other quarter finals saw Kem Sitsongpeenong getting the better of Thepsutin Pumphanmuang to pick up a decision win and Kasuya Takeda beat Chimichi Takeru .

Kem drew Prakaysiang in the semi finals, once again getting the much tougher opponent but it didn't matter as Kem still outdid Prakaysiang to win a decision, showcasing all facets of his game. Sirimongkol got the easy fight in Kasuya Takeda and once again demolished his Japanese counterpart.

Kem and Sirimongkol met in the final and once again, Kem showcased all facets of his game to just simply get the better of Sirimongkol for the whole fight.

For Kem, this was a huge tournament win after a disappointing performance at the IFMA World Muay Thai Championships where he lost to Vitaly Gurkov and ended up with a bronze medal. These were his first pro fights since June where he stopped Alex Asumu.
