Thai Fight was back with another show today in Lyon, France and again it featured their usual crew of Thais with the likes of Saiyok Pumphanmuang, Singmanee Kaewsamrit, Sudsakorn Sor Klinmee and now Aikpracha Meenayothin all taking on French opponents.
The French opponents were no slouches however, as Saiyok drew Fabio Pinca, who is often regarded as the best non-Thai Muay Thai fighter. Pinca, as he usually is, was game but Saiyok was the clear winner thanks to his bursts of offense that not many opponents can match. This fight definitely needed five rounds.
Aikpracha Meenayothin once again fought internationally as he took on Yohan Lidon, a man much bigger than he is, with the fight taking place at almost 73kg. Aikpracha won the fight, but not after a tiny moment of trouble in the opening minute where it looked like he might've been wobbled. Unfortunately, the Thai TV signal cut out right after the fight started so we weren't able to see most of it. Accounts from France are saying that Aikpracha was fairly dominant and forced a count on Lidon, winning a decision.
Another fight we didn't get to see was Sudsakorn Sor. Klinmee vs. Mickael Piscitello. Sudsakorn surprisingly lost the fight via stoppage due to a cut. Another cut stoppage on the card was Armin Pumphanmuang defeating Raphael Llodra, after Llodra was clearly ahead but got cut in the third round. We aren't done with the cuts yet, as Abdallah Mabel cut Super X on the right eyebrow and followed up by hurting the Thai with a series of downward elbows against the ropes, much like Armin did to Mabel last month, but this time it was Mabel with the referee stoppage win.
In a rematch of last month's highly contested decision, Houcine Bennoui got the win over Singmanee Kaewsamrit by decision (pictured), after some people had thought Bennoui won last month. Again, this is another decision which could've gone the other way.
