Kaimookaw Watcharachai Gym claimed both the WBC and Rajadamnern Super Featherweight titles by comprehensively defeating Aikrit Mor.Krungthepthonburee at Rajadamnern Stadium tonight.

He controlled the action in the all important third and fourth rounds, using a stiff jab to constantly interrupt Aikrit's rhythm while pushing ahead on the scorecards by landing solid body kicks which his opponent struggled to answer.

By round five Kaimookaw appeared to be firmly in control but he put an explanation mark on his already impressive performance with a perfectly timed head kick which put Aikrit down for a ten count.

Interestingly enough when the WBC organized their 'Battle of the Belts' event a few weeks ago it was announced by renowned Muay Thai expert Rob Cox that every round would be given equal importance on the scorecards under the unusual WBC scoring criteria.

Presumably the judges at Rajadamnern are not going to change the way they score fights just because there happens to be a WBC title on the line so we have a situation where fights for WBC belts could conceivably be scored under completely different systems depending on where the event happens to be held.

With widespread confusion outside of Thailand as to how Muay Thai fights are actually scored surely it would make sense for every sanctioning body to encourage use of the same set of criteria just to keep things consistent for the sake of both fighters and audiences.

In the co main event Siromongkon PK Stereo mounted a spirited comeback in the final round against Fahsung Sor.Chokkitchai but it wasn't quite enough to win the fight with the judges ruling it a draw.

In the next 48 hours there will be significant Muay Thai events held in both Bangkok and Phattalung. On Friday night at Lumpini Stadium Nong O Gaiyaggandao faces Wacharachai Rajanon, Tong Phuidandee fights Ting Tong Chor Koyuha Isuzu and Jasoo Thor Thepsutin faces Yokunpol Sitmonchai with a three million Baht bet on the line.

On Saturday further South in Phattalung Saketdao Petphayathai takes on Peneak Sitnumnoi and Pentai Sitnumnoi goes up against Kaimookaw's team mate Palungon Watcharachai Gym on another star studded card.
