John Wayne Parr To Retire After June 23 Fight

  • Written by Rian Scalia

John Wayne Parr is a legend of kickfighting, and at almost 36 years of age he's signifying his retirement once again. JWP posted a message today saying that he would retire after his fight on June 23 at the Boonchu Cup - Cage Muay Thai Series:

"To everyone that has supported me over the years I would like to announce that June 23 on the Boonchu Cup will be my last fight. I will be 36yo in a few weeks, as much as I would like to continue fighting my body is at the point now where it is telling me to retire while I still have my health.I am looking forward to retiring with a bang though, inside the cage with Jordan Tai. For anyone that would like to come along you can book tickets through the link, or for tables please inbox me."

JWP will be fighting Jordan Tai, a fellow veteran under Muay Thai rules but the fight will take place in a cage with MMA gloves.

John Wayne Parr has done so much for the sport both in and out of the ring. He's one of the most likeable fighters in all of fighting, and just one of the most likeable athletes in general. You can buy tickets for his Boonchu Cup - Cage Muay Thai Series event here.
