Batu Khasikov vs. Mike Zambidis Postponed, Zambidis Being Replaced For June 7

  • Written by Rian Scalia

Batu Khasikov and Mike Zambidis met last year in November and the fight was very anticlimatic, with Zambidis not being able to continue fighting after a knee that didn't look like much fractured his jaw early in the first round. They were set to meet again on June 7, but now the fight has been postponed and Fight Nights, the promotion, is looking for a replacement for Zambidis.

As we know, Mike Zambidis opted to fight in the K-1 MAX Final 16 on May 27 in Madrid, Spain. June 7 is just ten days after and Fight Nights felt the need to replace Zambidis due to the unlikelihood of him fighting on that date. Fight Nights is searching for an open opponent, and with Glory on May 26 and K-1 on May 27, it'll be interesting to see what fighter they can get to face Batu Khasikov. They've already gotten Albert Kraus and Mike Zambidis, two big names but with the unavailability of much of the upper echelon 70kg fighters, here isn't as much out there in that regard. Fight Nights has even considered Buakaw as an opponent, but that doesn't seem very likely with his current situation.[source]
