There's supposed to be an announcement regarding FIKA/K-1's information and plans for 2012 soon, and today some of it might've gotten out a bit early.

Antoine Pinto (AKA Antuan Siangboxing), a French fighter based out of Thailand, tweeted today that he would be fighting in "the new K-1" at the end of February. While the quote is quite vague, a fighter is publicly stating that he's fighting for K-1 in February, so it must have some stock. The reason why I'd hold off on claiming truth is the situation with the Final 16 and how fighters were saying they were fighting on the card and the situation with the supposed Final 8 afterwards.

Pinto is the type of fighter that K-1 has historically recruited in that he's got the looks that can draw female attention (Yeah, I know.). He also can speak in English, French and Thai. Pinto is also one of the most accessible fighters, being active on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and his management will even venture onto forums for him to provide the latest information. More kickboxers should take notes from him.

FIKA's plan on their website says that "until April 2012 a national tournament" when I put it into Google Translate and this may signify that they'll be kicking things off earlier than I thought. The key word is "until," which if I interpret it correctly, means that national tournaments will be held until April. I really have no idea if he'd be fighting in a national tournament but the fact that he says the end of February could mean that the FIKA format will be starting early in the year. Again, this is just all speculation on my part. We'll hopefully know more whenever the supposed FIKA announcement comes soon.
