Badr Hari vs. Patrice Quateron Official For GFC on Oct. 16th

  • Published in Kickboxing

Badr Hari's oft-disputed Facebook page made mention of a fight with Patrice Quarteron a while back and now we know that it is official; Badr Hari will fight Patrice Quarteron on October 16th in Dubai for Global Fighting Championship (GFC). If you'll remember back, you'll remember that Badr Hari fought on GFC 3, walking away with big money and two solid wins under his belt. So it looks like 2014 will continue to be the year that Badr Hari competes for big money outside of GLORY while fans of GLORY get upset that he hasn't signed with the organization.

Also on the card will be another 4-man Heavyweight tournament for 1 million dirhams featuring Melvin Manhoef vs. Hassan and Ismael Lazaar vs. Tai Tuivasa. We'll have more when it's available.

Mike Passenier Explains the Patrice Quateron/Badr Hari Phone Call

  • Published in Kickboxing

Over the weekend Patrice Quateron released a recording from a phone call with Mike Passenier that made it sound like Badr Hari's team was attempting to pull out of the fight with Quateron. Now here is a statement from Mike Passenier with his side of the story. It sounds logical, for sure.

Translation via K1Power at Kakutougi.

In reaction to the video of the recorded phone conversation I would like to share my side of the story before it blows up. The reason for the conversation is that a huge event is being organised in Morocco. It should be clear that Badr Hari is extremely popular and an event in his own country is a dream of his and the expectations will be very high. It will be the biggest fight sport event in Africa since Ali versus Foreman in Zaïre with an expected crowd between 45.000-50.000.

For this event we have been looking for a fitting opponent. To get the people in Morocco pumped for the fight we found out that a French speaking opponent would be ideal because the language is casually spoken in Morocco, rather than English which still gives most people there trouble. Additionally, Patrice is a guy who does not shy away from trashtalk and knows how to use the internet to make a fight personal. This is the reason we thought it would be smarter to do him a business proposition to relocate the fight, because if he wouldd be knocked out for example or lost to another opponent it would be more difficult to build up the fight in Morocco. If Badr decided not to fight it would have huge consequences for an organisation like GFC. In the conversation we made a very generous offer in which we would double his purse and even give him an advance to cover his preparation cost to the currently scheduled fight. That's it. In the meantime we have been discussing this with GFC and they have showed nothing but understanding and would like to solve this in a satisfactory way for all parties.

It's too bad the conversation has been edited to make Badr sound scared, but it says more about them then it does about us. Despite this we are not angry or bitter and will continue to organise the biggest fightsport event in Africa.

Mike Passenier.

Patrice Quateron Claims Badr Hari's People Tried to Pay Him Off to Not Fight Badr

  • Published in Kickboxing

When it comes to Badr Hari it's never quite clear what is really going on anymore. It's been like this for years, too, which is all the more frustrating. If you need proof of that, look no further than the recent social media fiasco where the accounts that were formerly "official" have been dubbed as unauthorized and now Badr Hari has all-new social media accounts and a new team running them. On October 16th in Dubai Badr Hari is scheduled to fight Patrice Quateron in a fight that Badr Hari fans are definitely looking forward to.

Patrice Quateron is now claiming that Badr Hari's team has tried to pay him off to avoid fighting Badr Hari in Dubai by releasing this video.

Does this sound like Mike Passenier? Sure. Is it believable that people are trying to protect Badr Hari to help preserve his image and ability to make money? Absolutely. Is this recording of the phone call real? Who knows. Patrice Quateron is not only well known for his fights and ability, but he's perhaps best known for his beef that he had with Jerome Le Banner a few years ago, culminating in this weird video series that he made called "Kill Le Banner" that included video of him confronting Le Banner in the ring. Hilariously enough, Jerome Le Banner and Patrice Quateron never met in the ring.

So the onus is on you, the viewer, to decide what is real and what is just hype for the fight that has very little buzz around it.

Badr Hari Getting Mystery Opponent for GFC 4, Quateron Not Conducive to 'Family Environment'

  • Published in Kickboxing

Over the past few days rumors have been swirling around that Badr Hari vs. Patrice Quateron would not happen at GFC 4, that Badr Hari had refused to fight Quateron. Of course most of that came from Quateron and his camp, who are very vocal on social media. Today GFC and Badr Hari released a statement in regards to the event.

According to this statement Badr Hari will be fighting at GFC 4, just against a mystery opponent. The explanation as to why he isn't fighting Patrice Quateron? Patrice was not conducive to a "family environment" that GFC was going for with their promotion. I don't even know. Decipher that for yourself.

Gokhan Saki Reveals That His GLORY Contract Expired

  • Published in Glory

There have been endless rumors swirling around about GLORY over the past few months, including rumors about certain fighters' contracts expiring. This doesn't exactly mean that these fighters are going to leave GLORY, but contract negotiations are a serious thing and money does speak louder than words or promises for a lot of fighters. One of which that we've known about for a while now is Gokhan Saki. There have been issues between GLORY management and Saki's team for a while now, only for the latest to be talk of his GLORY contract expiring and him having offers from promoters in Russia and Dubai (Dubai being where he's currently training).

What better way to confirm this than straight from the man himself? In an interview with The Fight Network Gokhan Saki confirms that his contract with GLORY has ended and that he would be open to renegotiating with them -- especially considering that he's the GLORY Light Heavyweight Champion -- and fighting before the year is through.

GFC 4: Badr Hari Vs. Patrice Quarteron Press Conference

  • Published in Kickboxing

The GFC 4 press conference was held today and once again we see Quarteron dressed up in another disguise, this time as a Sheikh. He showed up shouting, singing and dancing but once he sat down he realized Badr wasn't there. He began to yell out Badr's name but Mr. Hari still didn't show up, he did amuse the crowd though and they seemed to enjoy his antics.

So here is a video of the press conference or more like the "Patrice Conference"

Here is an upset Quarteron after the Conference

GFC 3 Featuring Badr Hari Internet PPV for $5

  • Published in Kickboxing

So Badr Hari will be fighting in just a matter of hours now (10:00am Eastern time) and yeah, we know, if you live in the United States there is absolutely nothing convenient about the timing for this event. It's early morning on a Thursday, not exactly the same thing as staying up for a K-1 or PRIDE event on the weekends like everyone was used to years ago by a long shot. That being said, if you can do it (or live in Europe), you'll only have to plonk down $5 USD to watch GFC 3 featuring Badr Hari, Peter Aerts, Peter Graham and Stefan Leko.

It's building up to be an interesting show, at least. $5 for an internet PPV (which most of you hate anyway) isn't bad by a longshot. So check it out here. We'll have a full rundown of the event later on in the day.

Badr Hari Rumor to Have Pulled Out of GFC 4 Fight with Patrice Quateron

  • Published in Kickboxing

Okay now, do this with me, breathe deep. Exhale. Good. The past few days have been marred by the confusing antics of Buakaw Banchamek in Thailand and for now we as a whole are moving on from that story. What are we moving on to? Apparently Badr Hari drama. Badr Hari drama is always the least shocking thing in the world of kickboxing and it is the thing that keeps him from appearing in the ring with top competition like everyone would like to see.

On October 16th Badr Hari was scheduled to meet Patrice Quateron at GFC 4 in Dubai. Things began to get fishy in the lead-up to the event when Quateron released a recording of a conversation between Mike Passenier and himself where Passenier attempted to pay Quateron to pull out of the fight and to accept another opponent. The promise was that they would instead fight in Morocco under a show promoted by Kader Marouf for bigger money and a bigger audience.

Instead of "playing ball" with them, Quateron released the phone call to the public and peppered it with insults to Badr's manhood. At the press conference earlier today Badr Hari was a no-show, leaving Quateron dressed in a silly costume with no one to troll. Shame.

According to our friends at MixFight, RTL7 is no longer airing the event and are claiming that Badr Hari has pulled out of the fight against Quateron. It's still not 100% clear considering that whomever is handling Badr Hari's social media posted just a few moments ago that Badr fights in two days. They might not have gotten the memo or maybe Badr has already fallen out of favor with them. There's also a chance that he's still fighting, who knows.
