We've been preaching this for a while now; that kickboxing is one of the greatest sports in the world and that it needs a bigger following in the United States. No, it deserves a bigger following in the United States. Any sport as exciting as kickboxing deserves a wider audience and the fighters, promoters and sponsors who work hard all do so for a reason; passion. That is all that you can ask for, and that is what kickboxing delivers.
Our good friend Bloodstain Lane agrees and his latest video is just that; he urges everyone to support the kickboxing world and talks about the upcoming return of Mark Miller as well.
In the crass world of international Kickboxing, the language barrier is an important one and can sometimes be a deciding factor between amazing news and just good news. I'm giving this preamble as a precautionary measure for people who are excitable or might even be a bit lackluster in English.
Earlier today Golden Glory put out a video hyping the return of the "K-1 Final 2012." In a lot of cases when it comes to promoters, they will use the K-1 name to promote their own Kickboxing product as K-1 is a recognizable name. Glory has always used the K-1 name to promote their Kickboxing fights on their cards, so with a recent announcement on their part of three huge kickboxing tournaments, realistically you could make the assumption that is what they are talking about. What doesn't add up is the fact that they say there will be more news later, when they have already announced their tournaments.
This comes after heavy talk of Golden Glory and TSA looking to partner up to purchase the K-1 brand or at least to work with the K-1 brand as an official promoter of the K-1 name, working with Kazuyoshii Ishii. It is a bold statement to say "K-1 is coming back" in this day and age. LiverKick has reached out to a few different sources to see how the negotiations are going, so expect more as it is available.
Mark Miller has been training his ass off since making his big comeback in May knocking out Nikolaj Falin in just under 9 seconds. It was one of those moments that was almost too perfect to sum up. Since then he has been training just as hard waiting for his next fight to come together, and this training also included making a special appearance at Rampage Jackson's training camp as a sparring partner and coach for Rampage in his upcoming fight. Regardless of the whole, ridiculous "spygate" non-scandal that has been talked about for Rampage's training camp, a lot of actual work was done and Mark helped push Rampage to his limits.
Since then he has been training using the Mass Suit, something almost out of a science fiction movie that was made to help athletes maximize their workouts by providing extra tension. This video is of Mark working out with the suit and they interview him for some background information as well. [source]
The showdown between Badr Hari and Gokhan Saki is just two days away now, with things reaching a critical mass for both fighters. At this point both men are done training and are simply wading through the final preparations before the big fight. In an interesting interview with Fighters Only, Gokhan Saki interrupted his training earlier in the week to discuss the upcoming bout with Badr Hari as well as a bunch of other issues. One of the big topics was K-1, and he says that he knows "many things" about K-1, but that he can't talk about them right now. This goes along with a lot of the rumblings we've been hearing behind the scenes.
When asked about MMA and if he is interested, his answer is simply, "Yes, of course, I'm a fighter, you know?" Saki mentioned maybe MMA, maybe Boxing, that he has been training in both, but that his "thing is K-1" and that is his main focus for right now. [source]
