Kunlun Fight Sets Sights on Europe

  • Published in Kickboxing

China's Kunlun Fight has one of the best kickboxing products around right now, employing some of the very best fighters from around the world as well as top Chinese prospects. Their tournaments have made new champions and brought to light lesser-known talents who have turned out to be some of the very best in the world. The only problem is that much of their product appeals to a wider audience, just that this wider audience has no way of finding these shows.

That seems to be changing with Kunlun's expansion into Europe. A recent report has slated them as working out television deals in Europe with both Eurosport and Canal+ thanks to a working agreement with Amibo TV productions.

There have also been talks of running events in Europe as well. Neither of those television deals are going to net big money, but they will make the product more accessible to fans outside of China, at least. This comes hot off of the heels of Kunlun announcing its "Superstar Fight" series that will take place monthly in China and be focused on MMA over kickboxing.

Andy Souwer Calls Out Giorgio Petrosyan For a Third Clash

  • Published in Kickboxing

When it comes to the world famous Giorgio Petrosyan, there are a number of fights that his fans want to see, but perhaps won't ever get to see those fights happen. Fights with Masato, Buakaw and Yodsanklai are perhaps never going to happen, as most likely we won't see the rematch with Ristie at this point either. Chances of a Sitthichai showdown seem slim considering Sitthichai is with GLORY and Petrosyan is with Bellator.

But what about one of the men that Petrosyan beat to cement his status as one of the all-time greats, Andy Souwer?

That is the exact question that Andy Souwer posed via Facebook earlier today, when he replied to Petrosyan posting footage from their last clash in K-1 MAX. Andy Souwer would like a third chance to fight Giorgio Petrosyan and honestly, who wouldn't want to see that fight? Petrosyan's next scheduled bout is W5 Grand Prix KITEK XXXIX against Artem Pashporin on February 18th and he'll probably participate in the April Oktagon/Bellator event. Other than that? Things seem rather wide open for a potential rematch with another all-time great.

GLORY 39 and GLORY 39 SuperFight Series Results

  • Published in Glory

GLORY 39 went down today, March 25th in Belgium, featuring two big title fights and a Featherweight Contender's tournament to see who will fight Robin van Roosmalen for the vacant GLORY Featherweight Championship. The one last-minute change is that Chi Lewis-Parry vs. Hesdy Gerges did not happen due to what was announced as "illness."

Both champions retained their belts, Sitthichai with a brutal knee for the finish in round four against a very game Dylan Salvador, and Cedric Doumbe via an absolute dismantling of a former foe proving that he has advanced quite far since their last meeting. Doumbe called out Murthel Groenhart after the bout.

Full Card for Tomorrow's W5 KITEK Event Featuring Giorgio Petrosyan

  • Published in Kickboxing

This Saturday in Moscow one of the most-decorated champions of all-time, Giorgio Petrosyan, will head to Russia to leave his mark on the country. The bout will be contested at 71kg against Artem Pashporin for the W5 World Championship. Pashporin is the current world champion and interestingly enough, will be an underdog going into this fight, as just about everyone is against the legendary Petrosyan. But it should be an incredible bout considering Pashporin's recent accomplishments and Petrosyan's return to form since his return to the ring.

Also featured are two other world title fights, at 81kg and 61kg, featuring the 81kg World Champion Alexander Stetsurenko against Vladimir Idranyi and the 61kg World Champion Sergio Wielzen against Timur Nadrov.

This, plus the host of super fights makes for an interesting card. The card will air on W5kick.tv at 5pm CET/9am Eastern.

Go Inside GLORY 39 Fight Week Plus a Heated Weigh-In Video

  • Published in Glory

GLORY 39 is tomorrow in the afternoon, live from Brussels, Belgium. The event is headlined by Cedric Doumbe looking to finally chalk up a win over career-rival Yoann Kongolo and defend his GLORY Welterweight Championship for the first time. This time they have five rounds to work and it isn't in front of a hometown crowd for Kongolo, making this a must-see fight between two of the very best at Welterweight. In the lead-up to that, GLORY have released their usual Inside GLORY videos and they are pretty fun this time out, especially the second part with Chi Lewis-Parry where he recounts a drunken leg-kicking contest involving Todd Grisham, James Law and the GLORY crew.

Then, of course, come the weigh-ins. Everyone weighed in, there were staredowns, you know the drill. Of course, this features Cedric Doumbe, who is a master at getting into his opponents' heads and, well, watch for yourself. It gets a bit heated.
