Lion Fight 22 Khalifa replaces Kem Sitsongpeenong

  • Published in Muay Thai

Sadly the much anticipated bout between Jo Nattawut and Kem Sitsongpeenong is not going to be taking place at Lion Fights 22 on May 22nd. Kem has suffered an unfortunate injury which has forced him to pull out. Luckily Salah "The Beast" Khalifa has stepped up and is taking the fight on couple weeks notice even though he usually fights at 154lbs. I think Khalifa has great heart and is a very brave man to take this fight but in my opinion this fight shouldn't be too difficult for Nattawut. We did see Khalifa at Lion Fight 18 against Yodsanklai and it did not end well for him, now Nattawut is not a KO artist like Yod but I feel he can just dominate every round without much trouble.

Full Card

Jo Nattawut vs. Salah Khalifa (Lion Fight Welterweight Title)

Tiffany Van Soest vs. Bernise Alldis (Lion Fight women’s featherweight title)

Anthony Castrejon vs. Jason Andrada (Battle For Vegas Bragging Rights)

Damien Earley vs. Gaston Bolanos

Brian Del Rosario vs. Tom Morales

Christine Ferea vs. Calie Cutler

Lion Fight 28: Cedric Manhoef Replaces Kem Sitsongpeenong

  • Published in Muay Thai

Cedric Manhoef will be stepping in to fight for the Lion Fight welterweight title against Jo Nattawut on February 26, 2016 at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

The reason for Kem Sitsongpeenong being replaced is yet to be released but hopefully he will be ready to fight the winner of this fight later on in the year. Luckily there is still a decent amount of time for Manhoef to prepare as this will be one of his toughest tests to date not to mention Manhoef fought mostly K-1 Rules in 2015 where as this fight will be full Muay Thai. It will be interesting to see how Cedric adapts to the rules and fighting such a crafty Thai in Jo Nattawut.

Lion Fight 33 Results

  • Published in Americas

Lion Fight 33 took place tonight and even though the first few fights started off the night a little slow, the pace picked up as the fights went on and we saw some great performances. Regian Eersel absolutely destroyed Purdy with his powerful uppercuts and ended it with a flying knee to become the new 165lbs champion. Shevchenko and Nattawut cruised their way to a decision without ever being in too much trouble to defend their belts.  Throughout the whole show, it was obvious that the ring ropes were very very loose and commentator Michael Schiavello made sure to bring it up multiple times but the Lion fights staff did not decide to tighten them until right before their very last fight, it made clinching against the ropes impossible without falling out of the ring.

Full Results

Jo Nattawut def. Hasan Toy via Unanimous Decision (50-45, 50-45, 50-45)

Antonina Shevchenko def. Ilona Wijmans via Unanimous Decision (50-45, 50-45, 50-45).

Regian Eersel def. Jake Purdy via TKO 2:41 Round 2

Chip Moraza-Pollard def. Brett Hlavacek via Unanimous Decision (47-48, 50-45, 48-47)
