Badr Hari, Peter Aerts and Peter Graham Participating in Global FC 3 on May 29th

  • Published in Kickboxing

Badr Hari

This kind of came out of nowhere and is a bit strange.

On May 29th in Dubai an event is happening, called Global FC 3, which will feature a one night, four man Kickboxing tournament. The winner of the tournament will take home 1 million UAE dirhams (approximately $272,000 USD). The participants thus far are strange, to say the least. Announced for the card are Badr Hari, Peter Graham and Peter Aerts. The other big name announced via a press release was ring announcer Michael Buffer.

When we know more about this we will be sure to report on it.

Andy Ristie vs. Robin Van Roosmalen Official For GLORY 20 Dubai

  • Published in Glory

After Andy Ristie's blistered performance last night at GLORY 19 it has become official that Andy Ristie will challenge GLORY Lightweight Champion Robin van Roosmalen on April 3rd in Dubai for the GLORY Lightweight Championship. Ristie made quick work of the tough-as-nails Steve Moxon last night in Virginia at GLORY 19 and Cor Hemmers confirmed at the post-show presser that Andy Ristie will get another chance at the title on April 3rd in Dubai, making two world titles on the line that night, considering the Featherweight Championship is on the line as well.

They last met at GLORY 12 in the Finals of the Lightweight tournament after Ristie had knocked out Giorgio Petrosyan. Ristie walked away victorious that night, but when he would vie for the Championship against Davit Kiria things did not work out as planned. Now after his win last night we will get to see a five-round rematch in Dubai.

GLORY Announces GLORY 20 Dubai for April 3rd

  • Published in Glory

For any major combat sports organization having a clear line-up of events is always the best way to keep fans engaged and ready for more. The key is to not overstimulate your audience but to keep them engaged and excited about what you have to offer. GLORY is doing exactly that with the announcement of GLORY 20 Dubai, which is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates on April 3rd.

The event will be headlined by the long-awaited GLORY Featherweight Championship bout between Canadian Gabriel Varga and Dutch-Moroccan brawler Mosab Amrani. The card will also mark the return of former UFC fighter Pat "HD" Barry who will be squaring off against the always-dangerous Mourad Bouzidi in a Heavyweight bout.

In keeping with tradition, there will be a Contender's tournament on the card as well, this one being in the stacked Middleweight division. Jason Wilnis will take on the uber-tough Alex Pereira while Wayne Barrett will test his mettle against muay thai standout Simon Marcus.

Tickets will go on sale on February 1st for those in the area or planning to attend and the event will be airing on Spike TV.

Video: Glory 20 Pre-fight Interviews with Mosab Amrani, Gabriel Varga, and Mourad Bouzidi

  • Published in Glory

Glory has begun releasing the pre-fight interviews for Glory 20 in Dubai. First up is the Canadian Gabriel Varga, who also did an Exclusive Liverkick interview which will be coming soon. Naturally the next interview is with his opponent the Moroccan/Dutch Mosab Amrani. After listening to what they both had to say, I can't help but think of how exciting this fight is going to be, I always enjoy a clash of styles in a fight especially when it involves height as well. Only thing I wonder is who will the winner defend his belt against? I feel Glory will have to sign some new featherweights.

The latest interview is with Mourad Bouzidi who seems to have been in Dubai for quite a while already to prepare for this fight. There have been lots of videos posted of him training like a beast for this fight, I get the feeling he REALLY does not want to lose to Pat Barry.
