This past weekend’s SuperKombat event had a lot of highlights in it, lots of good action and some crazy knockouts. We saw Catalin Morosanu prove that he’s still got it with an awesome knockout over Stoforidis, saw Sebastian Ciobanu push the action against Nikolaj Falin and Cristian Milea win big. All of that being said, the moment that really stood out for all of us was the crazy, awesome knockout by Alex Filip over Roman Palamar.
How could it not?
The move the Rolling Thunder has a rich history in the sport of kickboxing, with the most notable uses being by Australian Peter Graham. Needless to say it’s been a while since we’ve seen a kick like that happen on this level in kickboxing. SuperKombat is one of the big leagues right now and when fighters get to this level, they tend to not go for those crazy moves anymore, because they are high risk/high reward. In this case it connected -- big -- and the rewards were being the name that everyone remembers on the same card where we got a crazy Catalin Morosanu knockout.
That’s a huge, huge deal. So let’s watch it in all of its glory, because damn.
For those that missed the event, SuperKombat has put together a great video package highlighting the entire event.
