Two It's Showtime Brazil qualifying tournaments were held today in Maringa, Brazil. The tournaments were held by WGP, who are working with It's Showtime for their event on November 10 in Sao Paulo. Two four man, one night tournaments at 70kg and 77kg respectively took place to determine who gets a spot on the November 10 It's Showtime card.
At 70kg, Wallace Lopes came out on top, winning both of his fights by decision. First, he defeated Alex Oller dominantly in the semi-finals. Then in the final, he fought who I would've considered the favorite to win the tournament, Alex Sandro Alves, who squeaked by David Silveira earlier, and although met with more resistance than Oller presented, Lopes' efforts in the first two rounds were enough to secure the victory. Look for him on November 10.
At 77kg, the tournament winner was the hometown fighter, Rogerio Bezerra who breezed through the semi-finals with a TKO win due to three knockdowns over Juliano Goncalves. Fernando Nonato won a close fight against Cesar Almeida on the other side of the bracket and met Bezerra in the finals. In a very close fight, Bezerra got the decision and advances to fight at It's Showtime on November 10 in Sao Paulo.
